HELP BRIAN DOUBLE HIS CAMPAIGN DONATIONS BY QUALIFYING FOR MATCHING GOVERNMENT FUNDS.
GIVE TODAY! TIME IS LIMITED!

Brian needs to raise a minimum of $5,000 from 20 states to qualify for federal matching funds in Election 2008. In order to qualify for these matching government funds the minimum requirement is for our campaign to raise $5K from at least 20 states. An additional dollar will be given by the federal government for each dollar raised, anywhere in the country, not just in the 20 states... (i.e. $100K raised plus $100K federal matching funds; $125K raised plus $125K federal matching funds; or possibly $150K raised will gain another $150K in federal matching funds, thereby totaling $300,000 for the campaign!).

Start your state's efforts to meet its goal! Even if your state does not achieve the $5,000 level, if we do in other states, then your donations will still be doubled because of our qualification status. Please click on the "Donate button in the menu above to access Brian's "Donate" page to pay with a credit card, or mail your check to the address listed on our "donate" page. Thank you!

SOCIALIST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO CALL FOR PHASE OUT OF NUCLEAR PLANTS AT NUCLEAR REGULATORY MEETING IN CRYSTAL RIVER THIS EVENING

Spring Hill, Florida, Thursday, June 5, 2008:   Socialist Party USA presidential nominee, Brian Moore, will hold a mini demonstration, and be available for comments,  this Thursday evening, June 5th,  in Crystal River, Florida, publicly urging not only the denial of two nuclear reactors at the nearby Levy County site, but also will call for a phase out of all nuclear power plants in the country.

The candidate will be available from 5:45 PM in front of the Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, 9301 West Fort Island Trail in Crystal River, where the meeting is scheduled to be held tonight, with a social starting at 6 PM, and the meeting from 7 to 9 PM.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will conduct a public meeting in Crystal River, Fla., on Thursday, June 5, to discuss how the agency will review an expected Combined License (COL) application for two reactors at the Levy County site, about 10 miles northeast of Crystal River. The prospective applicant, Progress Energy, has told the NRC it intends to apply later this year for a license to build and operate two AP1000 reactors at the site.

A NRC release stated:  "The NRC wants to ensure that communities located near potential new reactor sites know what's being proposed," said David Matthews, Director of the Division of New Reactor Licensing in the NRC's Office of New Reactors. "We're going to work with residents to help them understand the process and how they can participate, because they can provide valuable information during our reviews."

The NRC will hold the meeting this evening at the Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, 9301 West Fort Island Trail in Crystal River, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.  NRC staff presentations will describe the overall Combined License review process, which includes safety and environmental assessments, as well as how the public can participate in the process. The NRC will host an open house for an hour prior to the meeting so members of the public have the opportunity to talk informally with agency staff.

A COL, if issued, provides authorization from the NRC to construct and, with conditions, operate a nuclear power plant at a specific site and in accordance with laws and regulations. More information on the NRC's new reactor licensing process is available on the agency's Web site at:     http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/new-reactor-licensing.html .
